Forged by Hand.
Built to Last.

A family blacksmith forging quality ironwork from our Lancashire workshop. Every piece is shaped by hand, fired in the forge and made to outlast us all.

At the anvil, we hand-forge everything from intricate homewares—such as custom wall hooks, traditional fire pokers, and curtain holdbacks—to substantial outdoor pieces, including bespoke garden furniture, architectural gates, and durable fencing.

Hand-Forged Artisan Metal Snail

Bring a touch of whimsical, rustic charm to your home, office, or garden with this hand-forged metal snail. Crafted with care at Shieling Forge, this sculpture captures the slow, steady spirit of the garden snail through the timeless art of traditional blacksmithing.

Each snail is individually heated, hammered, and shaped on the anvil, meaning no two are exactly alike. The heavy, tightly coiled shell features authentic hammer marks and a rich, textured surface that highlights the raw beauty of the forged metal. The carefully drawn-out antennae give the piece a lifelike, inquisitive character that looks right at home resting on a bookshelf, a desk, or nestled among your potted plants.

  • Material: Forged Steel / Iron with a Beeswax finish sourced from a local supplier

  • Dimensions: 110mm L x 50mm W x 60mm H

  • Weight: 220g

Note: Because every snail is handmade at the forge, slight variations in size, shape, and finish are natural and add to the unique character of your individual piece.

About the Forge

Sheiling Forge is a family blacksmith rooted in the Lancashire countryside. We now have two generations working at the anvil — shaping iron into pieces that carry the marks of the hammer and the warmth of the forge. Our work ranges from traditional bespoke commissions, to small custom pieces each one made by hand in our forge.

We believe in craft that lasts. No shortcuts,  just iron, fire, and the traditional skill passed down through our family..
